FROM LE MANS TO WIMBLEDON – HARROGATE SPRING’S SUMMER OF SPORTS SPONSORSHIP

Harrogate Water Brands, the company behind Harrogate Spring and Thirsty Planet, is rolling out its biggest ever summer of sports sponsorship – adding the Le Mans 24 hour sports car race, pre-Wimbledon tennis, international hockey and world triathlon to its sporting portfolio.

Harrogate Spring is the official water of Yorkshire CCC and England Cricket, which has a series of test matches against Sri Lanka and Pakistan taking place during the summer. It is also the official water of Ascot Racecourse and Royal Ascot, which takes place from June 14 – 18.

Harrogate marketing manager Nicky Cain said: “We love our sport at Harrogate Spring and really understand the importance of healthy hydration when maximising performance, particularly at elite level. This summer we are rubbing shoulders with the best in the world.”

This Sunday (June 12) Harrogate is the official water supplier to the ITU World Triathlon in Leeds, which features Yorkshire’s London Olympic gold medallist Alistair Brownlee and his brother Jonny, the Olympic bronze medallist.

Harrogate Spring is also the water sponsor of the Yorkshire-based Manor Endurance Racing team in the FIA World Endurance Championship, which includes the legendary Le Mans 24-hour race on June 18 and 19. Harrogate is the official water of the Hurlingham Tennis Classic, an exhibition tournament the week before Wimbledon, June 21 – 24 and the official water of the International Hockey Champions Trophy taking place in London from June 10 – 26. GB women face the Netherlands, the USA, Argentina, Australia and New Zealand. The men go up against Australia, Germany, India, Korea and Belgium.

Nicky Cain said: “Harrogate’s association with England Cricket and Royal Ascot has helped us achieve significant brand equity and we are looking forward to a great summer of classic sport with enduring appeal. “Le Mans is the greatest sports car race in the world and Hurlingham provides the perfect stage for tennis the week before Wimbledon. The World Series Triathlon, with the amazing Brownlee brothers, is happening on our doorstep and not to be missed, while the Champions Hockey tournament is a prelude to the Rio Olympics for Team GB.”

Harrogate Water Brands has enjoyed a year of phenomenal growth of 30 per cent, vastly out-performing market growth of nine per cent. Its workforce has expanded by 40 per cent, from 50 to 70, while exports have grown by 50 per cent. Harrogate Spring is the No1 British premium spring water with a spa history dating back to 1571 and is the original British bottled water, being first bottled in 1740. Today the Harrogate range is presented in award-winning diamond patterned bottles, reflecting the premium brand as well as providing the most original appearance.

The bespoke Harrogate Spring caps feature the brand's Royal Pump Room icon, ensuring the product is instantly recognisable as well as further enhancing the authenticity and premium appeal.
